A full custom 78m superyacht in build at Amels has touched the water for the first time since arriving at Amels and Damen Yachting’s Vlissingen City yard. The technical launch was celebrated with a private event held at the shipyard in presence of the Owners’ team and designers working on the project.
The 78m superyacht arrived at the Vlissingen City shipyard in January last year, and now celebrates another huge milestone in her journey to completion. Andrew Tree of Superyacht Technical Services, who has been overseeing the build on behalf of the Owner since day one, shared his experience in a press release:
‘Seeing the project take to the water for the first time since she arrived here in Vlissingen is a huge milestone. Today is a day all those involved in the build can be incredibly proud of and is the result of great collaboration and teamwork.’
The float-out gave the opportunity for this rare custom project to show off her unique exterior design, penned by Espen Øino who was also in attendance at the event.
Espen commented, ‘The large open top deck, large aft pool and very wide side decks that can be utilised as private guest balconies are features which come together to make this design very special.’
Zuretti Interior Designers is the studio responsible for the yacht’s bespoke interiors.
Weighing in at 2850GT, this full custom 78m will be the largest Amels superyacht to date in terms of volume when she is delivered. Amels and Damen Yachting Project Manager Daan Langezaal commented on this enormous benchmark:
‘When we started the pumps and she floated for the first time here in Vlissingen, it really was a moment of great pride. As a Full Custom, this is a yacht that is very different to the last 40 that we have delivered in terms of design, engineering and project requirements.
The success of the project so far comes down to the collaboration we have with the Owner’s team, with us all working to the same goal – to create something magnificent for a happy client. This latest milestone was a major one and I am very much looking forward to the next.’
